A question I’m often asked by homeowners who are thinking about selling in the next couple years is whether they should keep their home as it is, or make upgrades now in order to get a higher sale price when it comes time.
I can tell you it’s much better to make the upgrades now and keep your home current. Buyer conditions over-estimate the cost of repairs and unless you want to get a lowball offer, keep your house current and in good condition.
I often tell sellers on listing appointments about updated lighting, updated painting, flooring, wallpaper, and other things that they should repair that are relatively inexpensive. Most of the times, sellers regret not making the updates sooner.
So keep your house current, and it will ultimately make it easier to sell down the road.
