Should you sell during the holidays, and should you decorate if you do?
It’s the holiday season again. This is the time of year when people always ask me whether this is a good time to sell. In past years, the holidays weren’t the best time to put your house on the market. However, in today’s market, it’s a great time because interest rates remain at all-time lows, buyers are buying, all price ranges are still moving. I recently saw a $500,000 house have 28 showings and four offers.
The next question I get is, “Should I decorate, and how should I decorate?” If you haven’t already decorated, set up your photo shoot and get photos taken because if your house doesn’t sell by the end of December, your photos will be time-stamped by Christmas decorations. In January and February, people looking at your photos will see how long the house has been on the market. Minimalize if you’ve already decorated. Don’t have overwhelming decorations, but if you have a space for a tree, put one up.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to give me a call. I look forward to helping you on the smoother road to sold.
