I’m glad to say that the market has leveled off a bit; we have new listings coming onto the market because it’s that time of year when kids aren’t in school and people want to move. At the same time, there’s a ton of buyer activity happening, so properties are going under contract quickly. We have about 1,300 homes available in the market. This is a great time to be buying or selling. Interest rates remain incredibly low, so it’s a wonderful time to lock in an excellent rate.
Now let’s talk about paint colors: I must remind you that we’re in the South; people are a little more conservative here, and we lag a bit when it comes to national trends. That being said, the most popular paint color at the moment is classic or navy blue. I’ve even seen this color on the exterior of a few new construction homes, and though I was surprised, it looks gorgeous. This also looks lovely as an accent wall in a room with plenty of light.
A fresh coat of paint in your house can go a long way in getting you top dollar.
The second most stylish color is white on white, or creams. This is my personal favorite. This color scheme goes well with everything, looks elegant in the evening, and doesn’t require a lot of natural light during the day to make the room look beautiful.
The third most popular color surprised me: blush. This is Benjamin Moore’s most popular color, named “first light.” This pairs very well with the creams and whites, and as an accent color.
If you’re considering selling, you need to give some thought to the colors you’re using in your home. Grays are still very fashionable in our area, so you would be safe using those too.
