The No. 1 thing you can do to get top dollar when selling your home is to clean it. Clean. Clean. Clean. You don’t need to spend a lot of money selling your home, just clean it from the outside to inside.

This starts with your lawn. Edge, mow, blow, pull the weeds, trim the shrubs, and make sure there are no weeds in your driveway cracks. You need to clean your porch too. Take down the cobwebs, get the mud or fingerprints off your door, knock down the dirt-dobber nest, and do anything else you can to make it look like you’re coming in and out regularly.

Inside of your home, the key is attention to detail. You might even need to hire someone to do a deep clean (I know someone who’s great for this). You need to clean the baseboards because if they’re white, they will show dirt. The windowsills are another place that gathers dirt and bugs. Dust your crown molding and light fixtures for cobwebs.

Another thing to think about is the odor. If you have pets, you might want to have someone come in and clean the carpets. Have them clean your couches and sofas too, if you let your pets onto them. Don’t forget to clean the beds as well.

You really don’t have to spend a lot of money; your home just needs to be clean. If you have any questions or you’re interested in selling, give me a call. My firm and I are on standby seven days a week. We’re here to assist you.
