Become a Part of the CSRA Biking Community

If you’ve recently moved to the CSRA area or are thinking about moving here, you may not be aware of one of our best kept secrets. We’re talking about our bicycle trails! Here’s what one local biking enthusiast has to say about which trails he loves to bike and why.

Brandon Whitaker, the owner/manager of The Bicycle Peddler, says that the most popular trail is the Augusta Canal Towpath. It’s also his favorite trail and one he has been riding since he was seven years old.

It’s easy to get involved.

The most difficult trail system, according to Brandon, is the Forks Area Trail System, or FATS. Although there are a number of difficult trails in this system, there is something for everyone. FATS consists of six individual loops and ranges in difficulty from beginner to advanced. Learn more about the trail system here. These trails, as well as most of the other trails in the area, are maintained by the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association, or SORBA. Two other popular trails in the biking community are North Augusta Greeneway and Augusta Canal Towpath.

The best part about the CSRA bike community is that it’s easy to get involved. Check out your local bike shop to see the different group rides during the week and on the weekends. It’s a great way to meet new people and see some new sights.

If you have any questions for us, or are looking to buy or sell a home in the CSRA, give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!
