Today I want to talk to you about the home buying process. I’ll go over everything you need to know from your automated search to writing an offer.

The first step in buying a home is getting your automated search set up online so you are notified when properties that meet your criteria become available. On my website, you can be very specific about what you’re looking for and where you’re looking. You can also set up a search criteria that will notify you on a timely basis. For instance, if you are just starting to look, maybe you’d like to be notified on a weekly basis instead of immediately when new homes pop up on the market.

Next, you want to start looking at homes with an agent. A good agent will not only show you the great things about a home and neighborhood, but will also be able to point out any defects or challenges with a home you might not have noticed.

Setting up your automated search will keep you informed about new properties on the market.

The next step is to meet with a lender. Make sure he or she is a local lender so they are available to meet with you whenever you may need them, even on a weekend. A great local lender will get you pre-qualified and help you through the whole purchasing process.

Finally, you need to sit down with your agent and talk about the entire buying process. This means going over financing, terms and conditions that need to be in the contract in order to make it work for you, and timing.

If you are looking to buy or sell a home or if you have any other questions about real estate, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I would be happy to help!
