The $8,000 Tax Credit is set to expire April 30, 2010. More specifically, to be eligible for the tax credit, a Buyer must execute a contract prior to April 30, and complete the purchase (or close on the property) no later than June 30, 2010.
For Realtors, this is old news. However, I continue to be surprised by home buyers that are unaware of the deadline. Yesterday, I received a call from a recent college graduate that is relocating to our area and is looking for a home for sale in either Augusta or North Augusta. He was aware of the credit, but unaware of the pending expiration. Of course, I encouraged him to expedite his home search and emailed him a list of homes that met his criteria.
If you are in the market to purchase a home, don’t delay! For more information, this is a great source for all of the details regarding the tax credit programs.
